Scranton, IA – New Way was recently awarded a contract by the City of Sacramento, California, to provide ten new Sidewinder Automated Side Loaders to help the city meet their expanded service levels and growth of their containerized yard waste program. The New Way Sidewinder continues to grow in popularity, bringing the company’s renowned quality and efficiency to automated routes across the country.

The Sacramento Department of General Services, Fleet Management Division, and the Department of Utilities, Solid Waste Division, worked cooperatively in developing specifications to best meet the city’s operational requirements of solid waste. After city representatives were impressed by a demonstration of the New Way Sidewinder, New Way was given the opportunity to bid on the contract. The City of Sacramento ultimately chose New Way trucks over the brand they have been using for several years, placing an order for two (2) 20 cu. yd. and eight (8) 27 cu. yd. Sidewinder units. New Way will begin production on the units in December.

“We are very excited about this order from the City of Sacramento,” commented Phil Allen, New Way Vice President of Sales. “This will give us the opportunity to showcase the New Way Sidewinder to the rest of California and prove what others across the country are learning – that New Way is building the finest automated truck in this industry.” New Way says the Sidewinder is changing the solid waste industry with its innovative features, including a 1,000-lb. capacity, frame-mounted arm with 144-inch reach and 8-second cycle time. Boasting second-to-none body and tailgate construction and the highest ram penetration in the industry, the Sidewinder is backed by 50 full-service distributors across the U.S. and Canada.
